Create: By providing a supportive and dynamic environment, we encourage students to experiment, compose, and perform, fostering their individual creativity and collaborative skills. Perform:By offering diverse musical opportunities and fostering a supportive community, we strive to inspire students to appreciate the beauty of music, both as individuals and as part of a larger creative community. Every pupil at Selwood is offered the opportunity to learn a musical instrument and to develop their performance skills and build confidence
Analyse: By developing critical listening skills and understanding the structure, style, and context of various musical genres, we aim to deepen students' connection to the music they hear and create. Through thoughtful analysis, students will explore how music communicates emotion, culture, and history, while enhancing their own musical expression and performance. Students will learn to analyse music from around the world. They will build a deeper understanding about the history of western music from 1600 to present day music using the 8 elements of music. Ultimately, we hope to cultivate a passion for music that will resonate with students beyond the classroom, enriching their lives and their futures.
